Tina Knowles-Lawson, mother of singer Beyoncé, who is already in Ghana for the ‘Year of Return’ activities, has dispelled rumours that her daughter is in Ghana.

“She’s at home. She’s with her babies,” Knowles-Lawson told Essence.

Several online news portal reported that Beyoncé is in Ghana and set to perform at the Afro Nations music festival. The message from her mother puts the speculations to rest.

Her publicist Yvette Noel-Schure also supported Tina’s claim, saying: “This is not true.”

In an Instagram post, Noel-Schure stressed: “Beyoncé is not performing in Ghana this weekend,” adding, “To all who have returned ‘home’, have the most beautiful time.”

Several celebrities have visited Ghana in 2019 after President Akufo Addo declared the year as The Year of Return. The declaration is to mark 400 years since the first ship departed from the shores of Ghana with slaves.
